Biography

Arthur Ernest Taylor (SN 6589) was born in Sebastopol but enlisted in Perth on April 9th 1916. The 29 year old labourer was drafted into the 16th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Fremantle in October on board the Suffolk, reaching England in mid-December. He crossed to the battlefields of France in February 1917 but on August 8th 1918 he was killed in action during the Battle of Amiens. He has no known grave, and his name is listed on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
