Gordon Wilson Dow (SN 12283) born in Ballarat was a 20 year old bank clerk when he enlisted on July 13th 1915. He trained at Ascot Vale and Broadmeadows before embarking for the battlefields of Europe on June 20th 1916 aboard the Runic. In November he moved from England across to France to serve with the 10th Field Ambulance with whom he served out the war. He returned to Australia after the cessation of hostilities and was discharged August 7th 1919. He also served (SN V82577) during WW2.
