Andrew George Walker (SN 9127) born in Melbourne, was a 31 year old blacksmith when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 12th1915. Before leaving Australia, he married Anne Venville in Ballarat on September 28th. He embarked aboard the Port Macquarie on November 16th destined for service on the Western Front, predominantly with the 4th Field Artillery Brigade. He avoided combat wounds but was troubled by illnesses including mumps and influenza. He returned to Australia aboard the City of York, disembarked at Melbourne on February 27th 1919 and was discharged on April 13th. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V361096.
