Robert Wingate was a 19 year old postal employee when he enlisted on July 6th 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A62 Wandilla on the 9th of November 1915. Robert was promoted to 2ND Lieutenant on July 29th 1916, and then promoted to Lieutenant on the 17th of January 1917. He returned to Australia on the 28th of June 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 22nd of August 1919.
