Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a Postal Employee by trade, Harold Crawford Avent was 18 years and single when enlisted on the 11th April 1917 in the 29th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Private, Number 4754. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A29 'Suevic' on the 21st of June 1917. On the 26th of August 1917 marched into 8th training Battalion Hurdcott ex Australia. Private sick to group clearing Hospital, Codford on the 22nd of March 1918. Private transferred from the 29th Battalion 13th Reinforcements to the 32nd Battalion on the 12th of October 1918. Embarked return to Australia per Port Melbourne on the 5th of July 1919 per Port Melbourne. Disembarked on the 20th of August 1919. Discharged on the 19th of September 1919. Tree No.1062
