William Leonard Quick (SN 13342), born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old coach builder when he enlisted on July 23rd 1915. Assigned to the Australian Medical Corps he embarked from Melbourne on March 7th 1916 aboard the Karoola. He reached France in June 1916 to serve with the 13th Field Ambulance but after only two weeks he was evacuated to England suffering from abdominal pains diagnosed as cystitis. He returned to France in October 1917 but illness again caused his return to England in March 1918. He returned to Australia as a member of the orthopaedic staff aboard the Marathon and disembarked on January 1st 1919. He was discharged on February 8th 1919.
