Robert Young (SN 14076) already had experience with the 70th Infantry when he enlisted at Ballarat on July 12th 1915. He was an 18 year old grocer at that time. He trained with the Medical Corps and spent time at the Clearing Hospital at Broadmeadows before embarking from Melbourne on May 20th 1916 aboard the Medic. He then served through the war without significant incident and returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Zealandia, disembarking at Melbourne on June 28th 1919. He died in May 1962 at the age of 66.
