Ernest Edward Dix (SN 2355a) born in England, was a married 22 year old electrician when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 12th 1915. Assigned to the 23rd Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Osterley on September 29th. In early 1916 he was transferred to the 1st Anzac Battalion Imperial Camel Corps for service in Egypt until he was further transferred to the 14th Light Horse Regiment towards the war’s end. He returned to Australia aboard the Dorset, disembarked at Melbourne on June 11th 1919 and was discharged on August 3rd. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number T33095.
