Stanley Cecil Reiffel (SN 3129) born at Ballarat, was a 23 year old bread carter when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 12th 1915. He embarked aboard the Port Lincoln on October 16th and sailed to Egypt where he was attached to the 46th Infantry Battalion. He reached France in June 1916 and in November he suffered a wound to his right arm and was evacuated to England. With time recovering from his wound then 64 days at Bulford Hospital, he was unable to rejoin his unit until October 1917. In April 1918 he sustained a shrapnel wound to his leg and was again hospitalised in England before his early return to Australia. He returned aboard the Somerset, disembarked on January 15th 1919 and was discharged on March 1st.
