Alfred Alexander Blomeley (SN1693) was born in Ballart and living in Windermere Street when he enlisted on July 13th 1915. He was 35 years of age, married to Esther and working as an Ironfounder. He was posted to the 4th Light Horse Regiment and embarked aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd and sailed to Eygpt. In March 1916 he was admitted to hospital in Cairo suffering with ‘Debility and Varicose Veins’. In June he was invalided back to Australia on board the Itonus. He disembarked in Melbourne in July and was discharged as medically unfit on September 22nd 1916.
