Biography

Henry Williams was a single 19 year old clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on the 27th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 29th of December 1915.
On March 16th 1916 he was taken on strength with the 12th Field Artillery Brigade, he was promoted to Bombardier on the 1st of April 1916. Henry was promoted again on the 24th of August 1917 and given the rank of Corporal. He was wounded in action on the 1st of October 1917 with a gunshot wound to his scalp. He recovered and re-joined his unit on the 18th of February 1918. Henry returned to Australia on the 8th of October 1919 and was discharged as medically unfit on December 14th 1919.
