Thomas Griffin was a married 42 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on the 13th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 7th of March 1916. He was listed as a Gunner with the 12th Field Artillery Brigade on the 17th of May 1916.
Thomas returned to Australia on the 22nd of July 1916 and was discharged as medically unfit due to asthma on the 30th of August 1916.
