Frederick John Thompson (SN 3959) was born in Ballarat where he attended Humffray Street State School. He was 32 years of age, single, and a labourer when he enlisted on July 13th 1915. He joined the 6th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne on the Ceramic in November. On August 20th 1916 he died of wounds sustained at Pozieres, and is buried in Puchevillers British Cemetery, France.
