Biography

Frank Davies Bray (SN 582), was educated at Napoleons State School and Ballarat’s School of Mines before becoming an assayer and metallurgist. He enlisted on July 14th 1915 and trained at Flemington and Broadmeadows before embarking from Melbourne on November 9th aboard the Wandilla and disembarking at Suez on December 7th. After further training in Egypt he moved to France in June 1916 with the 31st Battalion. He was killed in action on July 21st during the tragic battle of Fromelles. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux.
