Ernest Harry Isaac (SN 10307), born in Ballarat, was a 21year old leather bag maker when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 27th 1915. After training at Seymour and Broadmeadows he embarked for overseas service aboard the Port Lincoln, reaching Suez on June 10th 1916. In early December he reached France to serve as a driver with the Australian Army Service Corps. He avoided major illness or injury but in June 1918 he was charged with leaving his engine running contrary to orders, and with leaving his lorry unattended outside an Estaminet resulting in the loss of seven days’ pay. After the war he returned to Australia aboard the Miltiades, disembarking at Melbourne on August 5th 1919.
