John Field Marshall was born in London, UK, but enlisted from Sebastapol on 9th July 1915. He was 21 years old, single and a clerk. He was allocated to the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade, with Regimental No. 6014. Later he transferred to the X1A Trench Mortar Battery. He was killed in counter battery fire from the Germans on 26th June 1916, and buried at Y Farm Military Cemetery, Bois Grenier, France.
