Biography

George Lonsdale Birkitt enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 19 on the 19th of July 1915. He had been born in Carngham, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Blacksmith. He volunteered and was stationed with the 8th Battalion, 10th Reinforcements later transferring to the 5th Field Artillery Brigade with the Regimental number 3006. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 22nd of February 1917. Tree number 1207.
