Biography

Robert James Todd was born in lnvermay and enlisted from Broadmeadows in August 1914. 25 years old, single and a carpenter, he joined the 8th Infantry Battalion with the rank of Lance Corporal. His unit embarked from Melbourne on board the Benalla in October and was posted to Gallipoli where, on April 25th 1915, he was wounded during the landing at Anzac Cove. Reported missing, it was another 8 years before his body was finally identified and reinterred in the Lone Pine Cemetery at Gallipoli.
