Biography

Charles Wesley Frost (SN 77) born at Bendigo, was a 31 year old teacher at Dana Street State School Ballarat when he enlisted in Melbourne on August 19th 1914. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Benalla on October 21st and sailed first to Egypt, before taking part in the Gallipoli landing on April 25th 1915. In August a shell explosion caused an abrasion to his eye, and he was evacuated first to Mudros and then to Egypt. While recovering from the eye injury he developed rheumatoid arthritis and was returned to Australia aboard the Runic and discharged medically unfit on August 8th 1916.
