Biography

Sydney Coles (SN 6242) born in Ballarat, was a 33 year old farmer when he enlisted at Ballarat on June 28th 1916. He embarked from Fremantle aboard the Euripides on September 11th assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion. On arrival in England he was diagnosed with a heart disorder and was returned to Australia aboard the Benalla and was discharged on ‘medically unfit’ on June 6th 1917
