Biography

Born in Windermere, Victoria, Francis 'Frank' Beaton was a married 32 year old farmer at the time of his enlistment on the 17th of April 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on the 28th of July 1916.
On the 20th of April 1918, Francis was wounded in action. He was invalided to the U.K on the 23rd of April with a gunshot wound to his knee.
He rejoined his unit on the 8th of August 1918.
Francis returned to Australia on the 12th of June 1919, and was discharged on the 27th of July 1919 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
