Isaac McDonald (SN 2120) was born at Boort, Victoria, but was a 22 year old farm labourer from Lake Marmal, near Charlton, when he enlisted on May 14th 1916. He was assigned to the 39th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in late September on board the Shropshire. He was promoted to Corporal and trained as a Lewis gunner before arriving in France in November 1917. He was killed in action on July 30th 1918 at Vaux Wood and is buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Cemetery, France.
