Percival Charles Holloway (SN 421) was born at Lexton and was a 23 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on August 20th 1914. Posted to the 4th Light Horse Regiment he embarked from Melbourne aboard the ‘Wiltshire’ on October 19th and sailed to Egypt. His unit landed at Gallipoli on May 20th 1915 and on August 7th he was wounded in action, suffering shrapnel wounds to his legs. His wounds were not serious but he had to be evacuated to hospital in early December suffering from frostbite. While in Egypt he was diagnosed as suffering from myositis, a swelling and weakening of muscles and it was decided that he should be returned to Australia. He sailed from Suez in early April 1916, disembarked back in Melbourne on May12th and was discharged as medically unfit.
