Alexander McRae was born in Cardigan, but enlisted from Carisbrook. He was 35 years old, married and a farm manager. He was drafted to 46th Infantry Battalion with Regimental No. 4560. He was killed in action at Bullecourt on 11th Apri 1917, and his name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. He served in the Boer War.
