Biography

Hugh Cowdell was a Draper by trade. Born in Ballarat, he was single and at the age of 28 enlisted in Ballarat on 19 August 1914. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914. He was wounded at Gallipoli on 31/5/15 and rejoined his unit 7/1/16.He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 14/3/16. He received a GSW to the left leg on 31/7/18. Upon returning to Australia on 31st July 1918 he was discharged on the 17/12/18. Tree No. 125
