William Jones (SN 7385) born in Ballarat, was a 43 year old slaughterman, a widower, when he enlisted in Adelaide on January 8th 1917. He was training at the Mitcham AIF Camp as a reinforcement for the 48th Infantry Battalion but was troubled by a persistent cough. He was found to be suffering from severe chronic bronchitis and on October 5th 1917 he was discharged as medically unfit.
