Biography

James George Joseph Fraser (Lt.) was a permanent soldier. He was born in Sydney but educated at St. Patrick’s College, Ballarat. He was married to Lucy and 28 years old, when he enlisted in Sydney on February 23rd 1916. He embarked aboard the Marathon in May, had some further training in England, and reached France on December 28th 1916 to serve with 33rd Infantry Battalion with the rank of Lieutenant. He died of wounds on April 28th 1918 of wounds sustained at Messines in Belgium. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery at Rouen, France.
