Biography

William Charles Coxon (SN 2804) was born in Ballarat and attended the Humffray Street State School. He was a 40 year old journalist by the time he enlisted in Western Australia on July 5th 1915. He joined the 11th Infantry Battalion and left Fremantle on board the Hororata in October. He was declared Missing In Action at Pozieres, until a Court of Enquiry determined that he had in fact been killed in action on July 25th 1916. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
