Biography

Theophilus Hunn Procter (SN 1872) born at Maryborough, Victoria, enlisted at Blackboy Hill, Perth, on August 17th 1914. At that time, he was a 27 year old bank clerk. He embarked from Fremantle aboard the Medic on October 31st , first to Egypt and then to Gallipoli to serve with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade. He was evacuated from Gallipoli to Cairo on December 7th 1915 suffering from frostbite. Just a few days later, on December 11th , he accidentally fractured his ankle in Cairo. On April 11th 1916 he left Egypt on the Runic, reached Melbourne on May 12th and was discharged ‘medically unfit’ on July 29th 1916.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Theo. H. Proctor.
