Biography

Born in Aden, Arabia, Arthur Slade Headlam was a married 32 year old carpenter at the time of his enlistment on the 23rd of February 1916. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 9th of November 1916.
On the 23rd of February 1916, Arthur was promoted to Second Lieutenant, and only July 1st 1916 was promoted to Lieutenant.
In 1917, on February 28th, he was transferred to the 4th Machine Gun Company.
Arthur returned to Australia on the 16th of May 1919, and was discharged on the 26th of June 1919.
