John (Jock) Thomas Stevens (SN 2882A), or Jock as he was known, was born at Sebastopol and was a 31 year old railway employee when he enlisted in Melbourne on November 1st 1916. He was assigned to the 38th Battalion, 16th Reinforcement, and embarked from Melbourne six weeks later on board the Medic. After training in England, he arrived in France in September 1917. He died on December 3rd 1917 of wounds sustained in France and is buried in the Trois-Arbres Cemetery.
