William Wade (Depot) was Ballarat born and attended the Humffray Street State School. He was a 20 year old compositor when he enlisted on September 1st 1915. He was doing his initial training with the 14th Depot Training Battalion in Ballarat when he became ill and was hospitalised. He died of pleurisy and pneumonia on November 11th 1915, and is buried the Ballarat New Cemetery.
His brother Charles also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
