Harold Theodore William Dixon (SN 811) born at Ballarat and attended the Dana Street State School. He was a 20 year old student when he enlisted on July 9th 1915. Assigned to the 29th Infantry Battalion and promoted to Sergeant before leaving Australia on November 10th aboard the Ascanius. He was accidentally killed on January 23rd 1916 when struck by a train at Serapeum, Egypt. An official enquiry into the incident found that ‘it was the result of a pure accident and that no blame can be attached to any person’. He is buried in the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. He was 21 years of age.
