Biography

Harold Theodore William Dixon (SN 811) from Ballarat East and attended the Dana Street State School before commencing study at the Ballarat School of Mines. He was still a 20 year old student when he enlisted in July 1915 with the permission of his mother. He was posted to the 29th Infantry Battalion and promoted to Sergeant before leaving Australia in November on board the Ascanius. He was accidentally killed on January 23rd 1916 when struck by a train at Serapeum, Egypt. He is buried in the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. He was 21 years of age.
