Biography

William Lang was born at Blackwood, England and was a Labourer by trade, single and age 22 enlisted from Ballarat on 19 August 1914. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on 19 October 1914. He proceeded to join other units at Gallipoli 5/4/15. Transferred to Maadi from Mex 25/11/15.He was awarded "Military Medal" on 27/10/17 For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty while in charge of a Horse Ambulance Wagon at BELLEVARDE RIDGE. From there joined unit from Maadi in Tel El Kebir 15/11/16. He was appointed to Lance Corporal 12/16/18. He returned to Australia 23 October 1918. Tree No. 142
