Thomas Westray Toop enlisted in Sydney, New South Wales on the 1st of May 1912. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria. He volunteered and was posted to numerous different ships as a Chief Petty Officer including HMAS Penguin with the Regimental number 508. He was discharged and Returned to Australia in 6th of August 1937.
