John William Ryan enlisted in an unknown port on the 12th of August 1913. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria. He volunteered and was posted to numerous different ships as a Leading Telegraphist including HMAS Sydney with the Regimental number 3293. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 17th of December 1923. Tree number 1444.
