Leopold Thomas Newland enlisted in an unknown port on the 16th of July 1912. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria. He volunteered and was posted to numerous different ships as a Able Seaman including HMAS Australia with the Regimental number 1937. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 19th of November 1919. Tree number 1445.
