Biography

Arthur Thomas Richards was born in Melbourne and was a Labourer by trade when he enlisted from Ballarat with the 8th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement on 6 July 1915 at the age of 35. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on 7 March 1916. On 8 February 1918 he was admitted to hospital with scabies and again in June with influenza. In September 1918 he returned to Australia aboard the Weymouth and received a medical discharge.
