Harold Joseph Reid (SN 8003) born at Ballarat, was a 22 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 8th 1915. On November 5th he embarked aboard the Bakara and sailed to Egypt before joining the 18th Australian Army Service Corps in France as a driver in June 1916. Aside from two short bouts of illness, he came through the war unscathed. He returned home aboard the Devanha, disembarked at Melbourne on June 23rd 1919 and was discharged on August 15th.
