Claude Albert Victor Jenkin (SN 8024) was born in Melbourne where he enlisted as a 21 year old carpenter on July 10th 1915. He embarked for active service on November 10th attached to the 28th Company Australian Army Service Corps . In Egypt in February 1916, he was hospitalised with appendicitis. He served through the war in France and Belgium without battle wounds, but his service was punctuated by a series of minor illnesses and discipline issues. After the war he returned to Australia aboard the Castalia, disembarking at Melbourne on May 30th 1919.
