Biography

Edwin George Edmonds (SN 2273) born at Ballarat, was an 18 year old carpenter when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 17th 1915. On September 27th he embarked aboard the Hororata for service with the 22nd Infantry Battalion. He suffered a leg wound in August 1916 then, in Belgium in September 1917, he suffered a severe gunshot wound that fractured his leg. This resulted in his return to Australia aboard the Kanowna. He reached Melbourne on February 13th 1918 and was discharged on June 20th ’medically unfit, wounded’.
