Biography

Peter John Murphy (SN 494) was a permanent soldier who was born in Ballarat. He enlisted in Essendon on August 27th 1914. He was 20 years old and single. He joined the 7th Infantry battalion and embarked from Melbourne in October destined for Gallipoli. On May 10th 1915 he died of wounds received at Krithia and is buried in Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
