Biography

Eric David Boyce was born at Ballarat, Victoria and enlisted at the age of 19 in Ballarat on the 20 August 1914, whilst being single and a Baker by trade. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914. He was wounded at Gallipoli 23/5/15. Upon landing , he spent quite some time in hospital for Diarrhoea, Dysentry and generally sick. He was reprimanded for disobeying orders 16/6/16. He attended the 15th Rifle course at School of Musketry Tidworth & qualified 2nd class with a good working knowledge of the Lewis Gun 18/12/17. Spent more time in hospital for Influenza and the like. Embarked for Australia from France 8/10/18. Returned to Australia 8 October 1918.
