Rupert James Rosewall enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 24 on the 18th of February 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Blacksmith. He volunteered and was stationed with the 8th Battalion, 14th Reinforcement later transferring to the 58th Battalion with the Regimental number 4575. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 1st of July 1919.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Rupert J. Rosewell.
