Robert Webb (SN 268) was born in England and was a 21 year old gardener when he enlisted in Melbourne on February 20th 1915. Assigned to the 23rd Battalion he embarked in May aboard the Euripides and briefly saw action at Gallipoli towards the end of that campaign. He was moved to France in March 1916 and on August 4th he suffered scalded right foot and was evacuated to England. While in England he went absent without leave for 10 days but not long after that he married Margeurite Bowdry in Salisbury. He returned to France in April 1917 and finished his service. He returned to Australia aboard the Port Macquarie, disembarked on May 26th 1919 and was discharged July 25th.
