Biography

Stanley Mossop (SN 1611) born at Daylesford , was a 23 year old letter carrier when he enlisted in Melbourne on March 20th 1915. He embarked aboard the Berrima on June 28th and served for a short time with the 22nd Infantry Battalion at Gallipoli until illness forced his evacuation to Egypt then England. In September 1916 he rejoined his unit in France. Illness again forced his evacuation and when he returned to France, he was transferred to the 63rd Battalion. The remainder of his service saw him attached at different times to the Pay Corps, the 3rd Pioneer Battalion and the Signal Corps. He returned to Australia aboard the Sardinia, disembarked at Melbourne on June 8th 1919 and was discharged on August 31st.
