Harry Hugh Dunn (SN 17) was born at Beaufort and was a 24 year old motor driver when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 23rd 1915. Attached to the 24th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Euripides on May 8th and saw action at Gallipoli from late August. He was moved to France in March 1916 and in October was transferred to the 6th Machine Gun Battalion. On October 9th 1917 he was wounded in action, suffering a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was evacuated to England where it was decided he should be returned to Australia. He returned on the Borda, disembarked at Melbourne on May 30th 1918 and was discharged medically unfit on December 20th 1918.
