Arthur John Leslie Hortin enlisted in Melbourne, Victoria at the age of 21 on the 29th of April 1915. He had been born in Tallangatta, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Labourer. He volunteered and was stationed with the 22nd Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement later transferring to the 6th Battalion with the Regimental number 1770. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 25th of January 1919.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Arthur J.L Horton.
