Biography

Born in Ballarat, John William Kerr was a single 19 year olf fitter at the time of his enlistment on the 27th of May 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 16th of July 1915.
He was wounded in action on three separate occasions. The first being on the 29th of July 1916 with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, the second on the 20th of March 1917 with a gunshot wound to his left thigh, and the third was on the 23rd of September 1917, but he rejoined his battalion all three times.
John returned to Australia on the 22nd of July 1917 and was discharged on the 20th of September 1919.
