Thomas Wise was a 30 year old married secondary school teacher when he enlisted on the 6th of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A1 Hymettus on the 12th of September 1916. He returned to Australia on the 17th of April 1919 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 30th of May 1919 due to his eyesight.
